Ohio Express wins Three Championships at GBA Capital Classic

The Ohio Express had three teams capture a championship for the second time this year at the GBA Capital Classic in Columbus! The 8th grade team defeated the WV North Stars in the championship game and went 4-0 on the weekedn playing in the 9th grade divsion. This was the teams third championship this year and the team currently sports a 20-4 record. The 7th grade team won the championship with a victory over WV Breakers and went 5-0 on the weekend. This was the teams second championship so far this season. The 5th grade team defeated the Central Ohio Showtime and went 4-0 on the weekend to win their 4th championship of the year. 

This has been a banner year for the Ohio Express as they have captured 13 championships this year with several runnerup

Ohio Express Dominates GBA Bobcat Classic

The Ohio Express continued their excellent run at the GBA Bobcat Classic. One of the biggest and best early tournaments in Ohio. The Express had four teams playing in the championship game with the 5th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade claiming championships and the 6th grade taking runnerup honors. Ohio Express 8th grade Wins GBA Bobcat Classic

The Ohio Express 8th grade team won the championship playing in the 9th grade division of the GBA Bobcat Classic in Athens. The team opened pool play with a 38 to 36 win over SO Shooters after a McKenna Kitchen putback at the buzzer. The team then defeated TC Sparks by a score of 38 to 17 to win their pool and set up a semi-final game with SEO Extreme. The Express defeated SEO Extreme by a score of 51 to 33. In the championship game the team defeated the Real Deal by a score of 47 to 32. Congrats girls on a great weekend! The team is headed to Pittsburgh next weekend and the Steel City Madness College Exposure tournament.

Ohio Express 8th grade wins USJN Mid-West Quailifier

The Ohio Express 8th grade team won the USJN Mid-West Qualifier played at Spiece Fieldhouse in Fort Wayne, Ind. The team finished with a record of 5 wins and 0 losses. They opened pool play with a 50 to 16 win against the Huron Hurricanes (Mich), the second game in pool play saw the Express playing Toledo Elite and winning by a score of 63 to 34. On Sunday the first opponent was Indy Flight and the team out scored the Flight by a score of 43 to 30. In the final pool play game and the game that determined who moved onto the championship game the Ohio Express defeated Ohio Lady Hoopsters by a score of 55 to 31 to move to the championship game against Indy Spiece Gym Rats. Ohio Express 7th grade wins GBA Bobcat Classic

The Express 7th grade team won the GBA Bobcat Classic this past weekend in Athens, Oh. The team defeated Southern Ohio Magic 1 by a score of 34 to 32 in overtime. They finished pool play with a 34 to 10 victory over TNC Crew. In the quarterfinals the Express defeated the OV Dragons by a score of 42 to 6. In the semi-finals the team played and beat Southern Ohio Magic 2 by a score of 53 to 26. In the championship game they squared off again against the Southern Ohio Magic 1 and won by a final score of 33 to 24 to claim the championship!

6th grade wins GBA Muskingum University Easter Classic

Congratulations to the Ohio Express 6th grade team coached by Mark Lane and assisted by Bob Boyer on winning the GBA Easter Classic. Team members are Ashley Offenberger, Celeste Ryman, Emma Harter, Rachel Richardson,  Avery Poland, Alena Mayle, Mikayla Rhodes, Rachael Adams, Rachel Cooke, Aubree Brocklehurst and Samantha Basham. The team went 4-0 on the weekend with wins over Canton Dreamcenter, Lady Fire and Parkersburg Red Storm. The team defeated the Red Storm in the chmapionship game. The team travels to the USJN Midwest Qualifier next weekend in Fort Wayne, Ind.

5th grade wins the GBA Wittenberg Easter Classic

Congratulations to the Ohio Express 5th grade team that recently won the GBA Wittenberg Easter Classic. The team is coached by Buster Howe, Brian Smith and Lonnie Jarrett. Team members are Baille Smith, Chloe Goldsberry, Audrey Spiker, Bree Ross, Melena Moore, Kyndal Howe, Lauren King, Macy Jordan and Macie Jarrett. More information to follow.
