Ohio Express to hold summer workout Sunday, July 5th
The Ohio Express Girls Basketball Club will be conducting their 5th annual free summer clinics this summer. There will be two sessions, session one will a basic fundamental clinic with ball handling, dribbling and introduction into shooting and layups. Girls in grades 3rd through 6th are welcome. The second session will be an advanced session with focus on improving your offensive game. Areas being focused on will be dribble moves to score, shooting drills, perimeter moves, scoring moves into the paint and post moves. Girls in grades 6th and up are welcome. Players can attend both sessions if they would like. The first clinic will be held on Sunday, July 5 with session one going from 5:30 to 7:00 and session two from 7:00 to 8:30. Clinics will be held at McFarland gym located at 2805 Pinkerton Lane, Zanesville. Instructors will be Jake Stewart, Mark Lane and Brent Glass. Ohio Express looking for 4th and 5th Graders
The Ohio Express girls basketball club is looking for 4th and 5th graders to play on two traveling teams this fall and winter. There will be a 5th grade team and a 4th grade team. The teams will play in tournaments throughout Ohio and neighboring states. Practices will be held once or twice a week and the teams will play in approximately 5-6 tournaments. Ohio Express to field exposure teams in the fall
The Ohio Express will be sending several teams to an NCAA certified exposure tournament during the fall viewing period. Any freshmen, sophomore or junior in the school year '09-'10 is eligible. Teams will begin pracitcing in late August and may play a warmup tournament or two before the exposure event. 10U Drayer Finishes 2nd at GBA Nationals
The 10U Drayer team recently competed in the GBA Nationals in Cincinnati. The team finished a very good season with a 5-1 record at the tournament.
In their first game, the team defeated the Cincy Angels 28-14. Dani Drayer's 14 points paced the team. Kori Sidwell, Jackie Pawloski, and Regan Porter each added four points. In game number two, the team defeated the Cincy Swish 28-27. Pawloski's seven points and Porter's six points led the team. In their final pool play game, the team defeated DLH-Allen 23-18 as Porter pumped in 10 points.
The team started tournament play with a 29-22 win over the Ohio Nets. Sidwell's seven points and six from Pawloski and Porter each led the way. The team continued their excellent play in the semi-final game with a 33-21 win over the Louisville Jags. Katie Rauch pumped in eight points to pace the team. In the championship game, the team lost to the WV Thunder 38-25. Megan Ulbrich's seven points and Pawloski's six points led the team.
