Ohio
Express to celebrate fifth year of existence
The
2009 season will be the Ohio Express' fifth year of existence and we
have seen great growth from our first year. In 2005, we started with
five teams and 46 girls; in 2008, we fielded fourteen teams with 145
girls playing. There are eight people who have been a part of the organization
from year one all the way through. Coaches Mark Lane, Jake Stewart and
Brent Glass have each taken a team every year. Players Maggie Mitchell
(Newark), Katie Davis (Zanesvile), Kaelani Gill (Philo), Ashley Glass
(West Muskingum), and Karen Sidwell (Maysville) have been a part of
the Express since their inaugural season in 2005. Karen and Ashley were
members of the first Ohio Express team that competed in the fall and
winter of 2004. Brent and Mark coached that team. Kaelani and Katie
have been Express teammates for four years and have compiled a very
impressive four year record of 98 wins against only 26 losses and winning
12 championships along the way. We look forward to our next five years
and seeing the Ohio Express continue to grow and give opportunities
to girls throughout eastern Ohio and West Virginia.

Our

so that they can continue to play beyond the high school level. Thanks
to the eleven girls who attended the camp for representing our organization
so well.
